Please watch the video below for a special message from the Sumas Family!

Since our founding in 1937, we have always cared deeply about our Village Associates and the Communities we serve.  We care so deeply about our team members that we refer to them as our “Village Family”.

In early September, many of our own Village family members were deeply impacted by the devastating effects of Hurricane Ida.  Even through their own hardships and loss, they continued to come to work and serve their community during its time of need.

As we look for ways to come together to help our family through this, we’re excited to launch the Village Cares Associate Relief Fund for impacts due to Hurricane Ida.  A program for Village by  the Village Family and the Sumas Family Foundation where our team members in need can apply confidentially for grants to help them with hardships directly related to the storm.

Members of the Sumas Family and the Sumas Family Foundation will initially fund this effort with $50,000 and Village Super Market will match the next $25,000 contributed by our team members, with a goal of being able to raise at least $100,000.

If you need assistance and would like to apply, click here:

bitly.com/vsmidarelief

We will contact you directly via the Village Cares text message system within seven days if you are selected to receive a grant.  If you are not registered for the system, please text employee ID or badge number to  844-551-7799.

Please keep in mind the following:

  • Applicants will not need to provide documentation on how the funds are being used
  • All applications will be confidential
  • Funds should be used to cover costs of impacts from Hurricane Ida including but not limited to property damage, displacement, and home or auto repairs
  • Funds will be distributed based upon need and availability
  • Funds should be used only to cover costs for Village Associates and not for their family members

If you are in a position to be able to donate to fellow Village family members in need, we ask that you consider our GoFundMe campaign to support this worthy cause:

GoFundMe

You can donate anonymously, and no donation is too small.  Every dollar counts, and the first $25,000 will be matched.

Thank you for practicing your compassion and caring deeply for your fellow team members at Village! Our core values aren’t just words on a page, but rather a commitment that we live by. We hope you’ll join us in making this a program that will impact many lives for the better.

Thank you!

If you have any further questions please contact the Village Care Center at 888-504-0011.

We should all be truly proud of being able to raise over $200,000 in such a challenging year, surpassing the amount we raised in 2019. It’s times like these that we should all stop for a moment and appreciate the impact our teams have on those around us!

We set ambitious goals because we want to be the standard bearer when it comes to fighting hunger in our communities. So many of you stepped up and delivered yet again!

We can’t thank you enough for all the things you do for Partners in Caring each year. We love that many of you see it as an opportunity to get creative with fundraising and we promise to share those photos if you keep taking them. Now onto the contest portion, all stores will submit their binders to Wakefern by Friday. We’ll update you when those results are in!

Thank you for everything you do!

Be part of positive change at your store! Although we always encourage you to share your thoughts and ideas with us, this survey offers a more formal opportunity to share your insights. Between September 7th and September 27th, we invite you to make your voice heard!

Before you begin, you may find this article helpful if you need to reset your Wakefern password:  How to set up or reset your Wakefern password

There are two ways to participate in the survey:

  1. Desktop/iPad: Survey will be accessible on the LINK homepage (link.wakefern.com)
  2. TC-70 Handheld: Survey will be accessible through the Soti-Surf app

Navigate to the AEM link on LINK or the Soti-Surf app on a TC-70 device. Sign in one of two ways:

  • Five-character ID and password (same you use for Axonify login)
  • Twelve-digit Employee ID and birth year

Answer questions and click SUBMIT. You will have the opportunity to add in comments to provide more feedback for each question.

The survey should take you approximately 10 minutes to complete. See your Manager or Supervisor if you need any help.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the Engagement Survey?

A: It’s your opportunity to voice your opinion – confidentially – about what is working at your store and what needs improvement. The survey is a great tool to provide feedback and assess culture, teamwork, leadership, policies and more.

Who is the survey for?

A: Everyone who works in your store is invited and encouraged to take the survey – part-timers, full-timers, Managers, every department, every job function. For those Associates who joined Village on or after August 8th, 2021, we invite your feedback in our next survey.

Will my Manager know how I’ve answered the questions?

A: No, the survey is completely confidential and administered by Glint, a third-party vendor, who makes your confidentiality a priority. So, no one will know how you’ve answered. Your answers will be included and reported on as part of a group – your direct team or department and your store as a whole. If a group is smaller than five people, the results are hidden to help keep answers confidential.

Should I be honest?

A: Yes! Absolutely. Store leadership wants to know how Associates honestly feel about working in your store so that they can celebrate what is going well and take positive action to address areas that can be improved.

Should I take the survey if I just started working in the store?

A: Although we value your input and are always looking for feedback, if you started working here within the last 30 days, you are not required to take the survey.

Can I take the survey at home?

A: This is considered a work activity, so Store Associates must take the survey during work hours. Corporate and Field Associates who are working from home may take the survey at home during work hours.

Why should I take the survey?

A: The first part of making positive change is knowing exactly what needs to change. By taking the survey, you are letting your store leadership know where they should focus their efforts to make improvements. You will be part of making your store a better place to work – not only for yourself, but also for your co-workers. If I do not remember my 5 character ID and password can I still take the survey?

If I do not remember my 5 character ID and password can I still take the survey?

A: Yes! You can also access the survey by inputting your 12-digit Employee ID and birth year.

What will you do with my responses after the survey closes?

A: After the survey closes, results will be combined, analyzed and provided to your store management. From there, your store and/or department manager will set aside time to review your store/team results with the team.

Shanah tovah um’tukah! Monday marks the first day of celebrations for the Jewish New Year, beginning at sundown and ending at nightfall on Sunday. This holiday commemorates the creation of the world and marks the beginning of the Days of Awe, a 10-day period of introspection and repentance which leads into Yom Kippur. It’s one of the holiest days of the year for those of the Jewish faith!

How can I wish a happy Rosh Hashanah to my fellow team members who observe?

You can say, “Shanah tovah um’tukah!”, which means “good year”. It’s a commonly spoken greeting on this day and you can show your co-workers you care about them with a simple acknowledgement.

Happy Rosh Hashanah! We wish everyone celebrating a joyous and peaceful holiday spent with those you love most.

We want you to be the healthiest version of you! That’s why we’re providing free flu shots for every Associate at Village Super Market, Inc. during the month of September.

The CDC and all the experts say the same: vaccines are your best bet to protect you from the virus. Vaccines have arrived, and we’ve set aside a supply just for our Associates and we’re offering them to you early so you can be protected for the entire season.

If you have your insurance card, be sure to bring it, but if you have no insurance, we will cover the cost of the shot. There’s no need to make an appointment, either — just walk into any Village ShopRite Pharmacy location during business hours between 9/1 – 9/30. If you have any questions, reach out to a member of your Store Management team.

We hope all our dads enjoy this special holiday dedicated to them. Stay safe, stay rested, and let’s treasure this time we have to spend with family. Happy Father’s Day!

Each year, the Sumas family provides scholarship opportunities for Village Associates and their family members who are pursuing higher education. Neither Nick or Perry Sumas had a formal education when they came to the United States in search of the “American Dream”, but they cared deeply about those who worked with them.

In 2021, we’re pleased to have expanded the award to forty $1,000 scholarships. Please join us in congratulating these exceptional members of our Village family and wish them luck on their future endeavors!

Every year, March is proclaimed as a time to honor women’s contributions to American history, corresponding with International Women’s Day on March 8th. Its origins are rooted in 1980, when historians and women’s groups lobbied President Jimmy Carter to issue a Presidental Proclamation for Women’s History Week. Since then, this period of celebration has expanded to the entire month of March.

We invite our Associates to tell us about an inspirational co-worker and nominate them to be included in this post! Throughout the month of March, you can fill out a form, attach a photo, and submit a Village employee you would like to recognize. We’ll feature them in this post and in our leadership newsletter!

or you can click this link!

Village Super Market, Inc. couldn’t be happier to celebrate our differences and honor the inspirational women at our company! Check back often to see who your fellow team members have nominated.

Village Associates everywhere have begun to nominate other inspirational women at Village! Check back throughout the month to see your co-workers get some well-deserved recognition!

The ShopRite of Landis sent us a photo of their EXCELLENT board showing the women who were nominated in their store! We love to see people lift up and recognize their fellow Associates!
